CCP,
One of the keys to good communication is the ability to understand your audience. Fundamental to that is the ability to listen.
Unfortunately the post above does not address most of the critical questions your audience has been asking over the past several days.
The most critical question being asked right now is quite simply: Will non vanity items be sold through microtransactions in game? (where non vanity items are defined as items that could be be used by one player to gain an advantage over another or to directly impact the game world).
The blog above does not address that issue. Given it is the fundamental one for the player base, your silence on this issue becomes more and more damning. People are asking this question because they want to know the answer - it will inform the decisions they make going forward. Without it, you force them to make decisions based on the information they have available to them. And at this point that information is fairly damning.
While you have explained that the Fearless Newsletter is an internal document designed to prompt discussion, I note that if that was its purpose it came from a fundamentally unbalanced perspective. A good discussion, like any good communication, requires all sides to give their input. With the exception of the "against" comments for MT put forward by John T. every other article around MT presents a pro MT slant. By my count that is nearly a 90% to 10% slant in favor of MT in Fearless. A truly fearless perspective would have given equal weight to both sides.
When you couple that with open discussion in that newsletter of non vanity items sales, an area that your players thought had been already fundamentally ruled out, you can see how your defense of Fearless as a discussion peice is questionable at best. A truly balanced debate about MT would have read as such. Your Fearless newsletter is not such a debate. When you couple that lack of balance with a quite frankly demeaning portrayal of your player base in the articles you can see why, from your player's perspective that document must be read with suspicion.
If you really want to put this issue to rest, answer the question that has been put to you.
No more evasions, no more half answers, no more delay. At this point your silence is only damning you. Give your players the ability to make a fully informed decision on this issue. Over the past number of years, your player base has given you their trust, their respect and their hard earned cash. We deserve an answer to this question.
HTFU CCP - Listen to what we are saying and then step forward and answer the question. The player base that has trusted you for years deserves your respect.
